James Kendall

A description of the lives and accomplishments of famous chemists, with a particularly focus on their earlier years. Written for a youthful audience, but quite interesting to this adult. Some famous chemists get a chapter to themselves, but other chapters discuss the accomplishments of several. The book is illustrated with numerous contemporary pictures as well as a few diagrams. The author was an Edinburgh professor and the book was published in the early 50s. He occasionally makes amusing asides, which I enjoyed.
