This collection of short stories was disappointing. I expected something better from a writer who, evidently, won "The Journey Prize." Nevertheless, there were some good moments, but I felt that the subject matter was too alien from my own experiences to connect to-- and therein lied the weakness.

A hunting party is assembled to catch a mutant Siberian tiger that is is on a killing spree.

If the title is meaningless to you, read on (and do not look at the tags either). A man dying of some wasting affliction joins a group on a recovery mission into a ruined city. The story gives too much away too early but nevertheless achieves a high level of poignancy. It all ends in the remains of a place I know well as I used to work there.
