This book handled a couple of touchy subjects with strength and grace. If you have/had an abusive parent for whatever reason it can really hit close to home. I'm trying very hard not to leave any spoilers here... because there is so much more I'd like to say but just know if you are in that situation you are not alone.

Definitely an improvement from the first installment of the series but I still still wasn't wow by the characters nor storyline. This obviously falls under the instant love category and everything just moved too quickly for my liking. I think the only up side about this read was the whole divorce drama, otherwise it was a pretty mediocre read.

It was okay.
This book is part of the Penny Reid Smartypants romance series which is based on the Winston brothers series.
The link here is the heroine works with Jenn Winston and the Hero is friends with Hank and gets a job as a bodyguard at The Pink Pony.
I found it quite a sad story.
It starts with the heroine finding her husband cheating and deals with her recovering from him.
Most of the town seems to side with him and his new wife.
For me the HEA came a bit late, I would have liked less time spent on the ex and all the shenanigans and more on the Hero and heroine sorting out their issues.
The Hero hasn't been into relationships.
The heroine has only been with her now ex husband.
There are no intimate details of anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
HEA.

In the prologue the couple have a ONS then the book starts 2 years later.

The Hero doesn't do relationships.

During separation heroine is celibate. The Hero isn't.
"I’ve thought about kissing CeCe again for the past two years. Her lips have haunted me as I’ve tried to erase her from my memory, replacing it with random women who never compared."

Other woman drama in the form of women his mother wants him to marry, one in particular, he's not interested.

No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
No cheating.
HEA.
Epilogue.
