Interesting book about professor who finds medallion who gives him special powers using the word Zotz ! I read it because we had a copy at home.

Purchased because it includes a mention of Chief Elvina Sudol of the Navy on page 172. She is described as "a rather icily self-composed young woman in the uniform of a chief petty officer in the WAVES." This is a work of fiction. In real life, the author was Sudol's boss; she edited several Navy Battle Reports (World War II) for him during the course of her career.

Walter Karig (1898-1956) was a Captain in the U. S. Navy and wrote a number of books referring to World War II. He was also an author of television scripts for war-related programs like "Victory At Sea."

The story of the US Navy's part in World War II, prepared in a nontechnical, readable form. A simple account of what happened to Navy men and Navy ships in WWII. Not intended to be a definitive history of the war in the Pacific during this period; but a well-rounded account, as seen by the men who fought to stem the tide of defeat.
