Interesting take on a litrpg. the MC hurts a monster and gets bloodpoints that allows her to take the path of an Adventurer. A mighty adventurer of the past helps her as a mentor for the first steps.
The monsters are all very unique and the story holds some surprises along the way. The society is a unique one too.
Little remark - due to the name Avery and the story told in first person it took me a quarter of the book till i learned the MC is a female.

As a fan of strategy games I was unsure about this litrpg. However, once the story gets going I found it to be an enjoyable read. It was also great to take a different approach to conflicts than through warfare. The only down side is that the NPCs are really only as deep as NPCs from actual games. Hopefully some of these characters will have major growth in future books.

Okay Sequel

I really enjoyed the first book but book 2 was a bit underwhelming. Most of the characters from the first book don't appear in this one, introducing a whole set of new characters to get to know. Secondly almost everything just works out in Charles' favor no matter how much he might be up against a wall. In addition the plot seems to just jump from one point to another.

The author has only himself to blame for it taking me so long to get around to reading this book. His first book in the series was so good, and evoked such feeling of nostalgia for the Civilization series, that I downloaded the Unciv app. Forcing me down the rabbit hole of videogames, cutting my time to read.
If you liked the first book, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one, if you haven’t read it, that is the place to start.
