Holiday Junction’s April Fool’s Festival is in full swing and the townsfolk are having a grand time enjoying the celebration. But a somber warning the local fortune teller gives her casts a cloud over the event and makes Junction Journal editor and amateur sleuth Violet anxious. Once again Violet and Darren find themselves drawn into a murder investigation.

Although the festivities make it clear that the Merry Maker has been in action, long time readers of this series will notice that there is little mention of this mysterious person. April Fool’s Alibi centers more around solving the mystery. Those who are less familiar with the series will likely never notice this as it does not impact the story. Ms. Kappes still creates wonderful characters for us and weaves an intricate mystery that needs to be solved. She once again left me guessing about “whodunit.”

It is a fun story that will not take long to read. You cannot go wrong with this book if you enjoy a good cozy mystery.… (plus d'informations)

It does not have to be Easter to enjoy this fun cozy mystery by Tonya Kappes. Of course, there is a murder to be solved in the small town of Holiday Junction, but I could not help laughing at some of the images that came to mind when reading about the auditions to cast the town’s Easter Bunny. Death by chocolate bunny is an unusual way to commit murder and Violet and Darren have their hands full trying to determine how and why this could have happened.

As always, the author has a list of possible suspects who may have had a reason to want the victim dead. She also surprised me when the name of the killer was revealed.

We also have some fun watching the romance begin to spark between Darren and Violet.

Ms. Kappes continues to keep me turning the pages. She makes her reader feel as if he or she is they are right there and know the townspeople and knows how to keep the story moving along.… (plus d'informations)

Great idea, but just not my cup of tea. This cozy is part of a long-standing Southern cozy series (so obviously a lot of readers love it) and there's plenty of pros: positive Southern cozy (yay, finally!), important conservation issues included in the plot, quintessential characters and beautiful setting, and recipes and camping hacks at the end (loved this); but so much text and time was spent on the scenery and petty small-town gossip and proverbs, it took away from the story and marginalized the "culture." I'll give one of the earlier books a try to see if that makes a difference, but if you love the rest of the series, you'll probably enjoy this one too.
