A grain of wheat, par Toyohiko Kagawa
A Grain of Wheat tells the story of Kakichi, a young Japanese man from a poor family. In the course of his struggles, Kakichi connects with Mr. Murano, a spiritual leader, and becomes a born-again Christian. Kakichi must then navigate a world steeped in poverty and tradition, dealing with his delinquent brother, caring for his ailing father, and eventually entering into his mandatory military service, all the while resisting the temptations around him.
