No surprise to me.....I LOVED this first book of the series. I really like how although they each had heartbreak, and really bad things has happened to them... They banded together at the shelter to become sisters of the heart. I can't wait to hear the backstory for the rest of these fierce women. In this book they take their winnings and buy a building together. Living all together in one secured building while redoing what will eventually be their residential spaces, and work spaces. Thankfully they have the means to make it secure. Meena runs into her dead hubbys best friend Kaleb. Since the death of her soldier hubby, and everything that happened to her she lost touch with many people. Sadly Kaleb fell through the cracks. He's her sons godfather, and she'd always been drawn to him. Can she truly trust him though? Does he know about their windfall? Her running into him happened right at the time she started getting creepy Haiku emails and packages from a stalker. Her heart says he's safe, but her shelter sisters/sisters of her heart are a touch leery. Is it as it seems, or is danger closer than they thought? Enter this exciting world of these women who'd previously been knocked down, and took life by the horns and are living in THEIR terms! My superheroes! These awesome women love each other like family, and will do anything to protect their happy village. Stalker guy best believe they're not going to make this easy. I can't wait to slowly learn about each of these intelligent, big hearted, funny, and fierce women... Here's to the next book and peeling back the layers of this awesome family!! Three cheers for the SHELTER SISTERS!!!!… (plus d'informations)

A pastry chef becomes involved in a murder and decides to investigate. Book includes nice recipes, but doesn't answer some very important questions. Nice character developments.

In The Switch, Ms. Justesen has given her readers the story of two babies switched at birth. Tia is a grown woman when an accident leaves concerns about her blood type. When a DNA test is taken, it’s discovered she doesn’t belong to the people she thought were her parents. Tia had just gotten her life moving fairly smoothly after her husband died in Iraq leaving her a single mother to two young girls. The same accident that brought the blood type concerns up brought a new man into her life. Was she really ready to start something with Danny? Should she look for her parents? What should she do?

My sympathies were engaged from the moment it was disclosed Tia was a young war widow. It seemed like things kept piling up on her. Ron, her dad, seemed like a stable supportive parent while her
mother seemed like a neurotic demanding witch. I like that Danny started the relationship being supportive, friendly & unassuming. It was like he could sense what she needed & was just there for her. This was an engaging read that kept my attention. It has a slight connection with Blank Slate but they exist side by side (same time frame) and do not depend on each other in any way.

What would you do if you woke up from a near fatal accident with no memories? You’d have to take the word of people that were strangers to you & assume it was the truth. As time goes on, things should get more familiar, right?

This was an intriguing story to read. You couldn’t help but feel for Adrianna and the position she was in. The confusion & pain has to be overwhelming. The interactions between her & the other characters were emotional as they tried to helping her come to terms with everything. She managed to weather the accident, numerous surgeries, a broken engagement & then came a medical emergency that completely pulled the rug out from underneath her. How she weathered the final storm said a lot about her & her character. The author did a fantastic job of expressing the emotions of all characters & the painful healing process. I really enjoyed this story & cant wait to read Danny’s story.… (plus d'informations)
