Josh Judge

Josh Judge brings his conversational weather reports to print in this fascinating book about New England weather. It covers the major events, starting of course with ice storms and cold spells, and later talking about heat waves, thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and flooding. Each chapter gives a basic lesson on the underlying science associated with the type of weather, and then historical occurrences of those events are summarized. Judge allows other local meteorologists to share a story about a particular weather event (one of my two complaints about the book is that there is no index, so it's hard to find these stories again if you only remember the personality and not the weather event).

Anyone who has lived in New England for any length of time has a weather story, like living through the Blizzard of '78 or the floods of 2005. This book describes those events (and so many more) in depth, with pictures on almost every single page (it would have been extraordinary to have more color photos, but that might have raised the cost of the book). Judge also throws in some weather facts (and a few "pop-quiz" questions to test your knowledge), which makes this an enjoyable book to dip into from time to time.… (plus d'informations)
