Hope Dahle Jordan (1905–1995)

I read this gripping account of a young woman and her grandmother being hed prisoners several times as a young adult. The protagonist is not the all-capable heroine sometimes found in fiction. She is somewhat fearful, and not taken terribly seriously by her family. She, and they, realize her strength as she copes with the terrifying crisis.
