Interesting dissertation on the TV phenomenon back when it was a phenomenon and not a standing joke as it is now. I would appreciate a follow-up book discussing why it still keeps getting trotted out on air year after year when public interest in it has all but died, and why the networks think that increasing the quota of crass tastelessness will somehow attract back the vanished audience.

Toni Johnson-Woods fancies herself an expert in media and popular culture. Well, she's not - she thinks Braveheart was about Rob Roy, after all - but she plays one at the Australian taxpayer's expense. A needlessly perplexing book, Blame Canada! is essentially a series of baseless claims, factual errors, and typos in service of the theory that Trey Parker is Rabelais.

An amazing overview of the cultural phenomenon known as South Park. It's very complete and readable, but it does contain some urban legnds that have been proven as untrue (hence the 4.5 out of 5 instead of a 5 out of 5).
