This is a pretty well-written text for what can be fairly dry and inaccessible material. I found the boxed-in sections sprinkled throughout the book particularly useful in terms of my learning experience-- I'm very glad the book is formatted in a way that includes them.

A lot of these niche science texts seem to elicit "a lot of great information in here, but . . . " reviews from me. In this case it's "a lot of great information in here, but you never know when Johnson is going to dick out on you by using a technical term, like SP (I even forget what this stands for know--point proven?), without defining what it is, or when he's going to use a regular term, like "impinge", in a weird way and elave you to wonder whether he's using it technically or not." I do think his exercises were well thought out and the "sufficient jargon" sections were useful, but man, these guys really have no sense of what we do and do not already know, do they?… (plus d'informations)
