4114 Simon Bolivar and Spanish American Independence: 1783-1830, by John J. Johnson with the collaboration of Doris M. Ladd (read 2 Jan 2006) This is a 1958 book which is not really a biography of Bolivar, but tells of his life and work, and how he "created" Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. He was not really successful except in battle, and his plans for the countries were not accepted. This was a good little book, though I did not get too caught up with it--I had had the book for some time and thought I should read it, and I am glad I did.… (plus d'informations)
