Beautiful! Katie definitely has a way with words. The way she described the everything from the surroundings, emotions and feelings you could actually picture everything happening all around you. I could feel every emotion that was actually going through Mina, from feeling guilty about leaving Sam and trying not to jump Blake. I wanted to jump *swoon* Blake all the time. Before i had read the book myself i let my friend borrow it and read it before me. She didn't say anything because she knows how much i hate it when people spoil the surprise. All she said was that there is no happy ending. I thought that would affect my perspective and not even let me give the book a chance but i am pleased to announce that i am through that phase and enjoyed the book thoroughly. "The Forest of Adventures" is a gripping read, that keeps you turning the pages, all the while maintaining the tense and electrically charged atmosphere. I must admit, that although Vampires and Werewolves are dark and sexy, the thought of of an Arthurian Knight is far more sexy. I think the first Arthurian novel that i actually read was Avalon High by Meg Cabot. That made me realise my love for such stories. Not only that but "The Forest of Adventures" brought forward certain facts that i didn't know and when i finally learned about them through Katie's book i was astonished and interested to know more. The whole setting is just so romantic and I love the feeling of everything being so beautiful but with a dark force constantly threatening. Beautiful! Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down and my copies signed! Yippee!I can't wait to read the second book and find out what happens next.… (plus d'informations)

A well-orchestrated exercise influenced undoubtedly by traditional Dickens. Author Katie John gives the main character a tragic background so gruesome and imaginable it screams Victorian London. The only thing missing from this short is length. I was immediately taken in by the prose, the circumstance, setting and players of the game. However, due to the quickness, parts of the story were rushed and lost the 'what's lurking in the shadow,' suspense. I think if slowed down, these already macabre and horrifically attractive elements would be enhanced. The guts and bones are there and ripe for a bit of meat. I can't classify it as a novel, yet -- but it is a notable short with full-length novel potential!… (plus d'informations)

What? Seriously? That was the end? That’s just mean! And then to give me a little taste of the beginning of book two, why? You’re torturing me here!

Yes, this book was really good. I had a little bit of a tough time in the beginning by creating mental picture in my head, but once I did I was sucked into The Realm. The part I had a hard time with was; I went back and forth with a more real picture and then to a fairytale picture. Eventually I found a happy medium and I loved it.

A very real picture AND a fairytale picture is exactly what it was. One minute Mina is in the real world with her friends and family but as soon as she enters the forest with The Realm, it is almost like a she is in a fairytale. Don’t get me wrong, the fairytale isn’t all fun and magical. It is also gruesome and deceitful.

I loved how the majority of the book surrounded a young innocent romance. But is it really innocent? Is their love forbidden? In the beginning of the book I was getting a little irritated with Mina because she had a boyfriend and she is immediately awestruck by another boy. But as soon as Mina had entered into The Realm and her attraction to Blake is inevitable, I felt like saying “KISS ALREADY!!” Why does Blake have to be such a saint?

This is supposed to be the first book to a Trilogy. My hopes are that I don’t have to wait long for the next two books, or I think I just might go insane. I HAVE to know where this trilogy will end.
