Alan Jeffreys is the author of Approach to Battle. Training the Indian Army during the Second World War (2017). He is the founding series editor of Helion's 'War and Military Culture in South Asia, 1757-1947' and a senior curator at the Imperial War Museum. Having read quite a lot about the British Army in the Far East during World War II this is a good examination of the structure and doctrine of the force as it evolved from the disasters of Singapore and Burma and fighting their way back from the borders of India.
