The Reckoning is written for young adults but is a thrilling page turner appealing to mystery lovers of all ages – provided they are prepared to sacrifice descriptions of gratuitous sex and violence.

Fin has lived peacefully on Whale Island all his life but during the holiday between finishing school and starting university he sees a young woman fall to her death right in front of him. Officially, she jumped, but he is convinced she was pushed.

A secret facility, cultish brainwashing, questions of family, friendship and race, an isolating storm and the by now almost commonplace South African villain wracked by conflicting issues, are just some of the ingredients in this very agreeable book.
