Een vader, een dochter en hun hond lijden schipbreuk en spoelen aan op een klein eiland. Wat zij niet weten, is dat dat eiland niet is wat het lijkt. Eiland beschermt de drie tegen wind en kou, tegen golven en gevaar, en voert hen door een prachtige wereld. Terwijl de seizoenen veranderen, ontdekken ze geluiden en geuren die ze niet kennen en kleuren die ze nog nooit hebben gezien. Tot ze worden gered. En dan blijkt dat Eiland niet onopgemerkt is gebleven...

Gloriously vibrant and detailed illustrations follow a girl, her father and dog after a shipwreck causes them to land on an island this is not all it seems. The island itself protects them from further dangers as they move through the oceans and gain further varied experiences.
I read this book to my 18 month old granddaughter and she liked it well enough. The blurb says it is: For toddlers ages 18 months and up, with a focus on the child’s daily life. I am not sure about the daily life part. My granddaughter was more interested in touching the parts of her head mentioned in the story and trying to say what it was (i.e. ears). She did like the illustrations and the animals depicted. It would also be a good way to introduce a new baby on the way to a young child. The illustrations were large and well done and certainly held her attention more so than the story itself. A cute book for young children.
