Can I Sit with You? par Sarah Jacoby
This artwork is so lovely and the sweet rhyming is as well. A great read aloud book with a touching ode to dogs and our enduring friendships with them. Overall, it's a story that leaves you with a warm and particularly un-alone feeling.
A poetic rumination about the concept of time - beautifully illustrated but will likely require some conversation afterwards to unpack all the subtle meaning throughout the book. Heady but lovely.
The nature of time and our relationship to it is explored in this lovely, gently philosophical picture-book. Precise and fleeting, the object of great regard or wholly ignored, a rhythm and a beat - for every human being, time is finite. In the end, though, the narrator here concludes that time, especially the time spent with a loved one, is to be treasured...
Philosophical picture-books are extremely tricky, and well-nigh impossible to pull off successfully. Author/illustrator Sarah Jacoby somehow manages to do it with Forever or a Day, creating a thought-provoking, visually striking gem of a book. I found the artwork here absolutely beautiful, and felt it complemented the poetic text perfectly. This is a book to pore over, reading again and again, while pondering the mysteries of time.
