Fantastic introduction to Nietzsche in roughly under 220 pages; succinct and well-written - and thanks to this book I now have other books to turn to.

Very easy to read and understand with simple quizzes to help refresh you at the end of each chapter. I found the book very valuably introduced not only Plato's big ideas, but also very clearly explained the context of those ideas and how those ideas changed and shaped philosophy around the world later on. The book did seem to have a number of typos and misspellings in it, but other than that, I found it a solid introduction to the topic.

Whether this is truly an introduction for you, or you are well versed in Platonic dialogue, this book is a must read for anyone with a passion for philosophy or the ancient classics. It is quick and easy to understand with an explanation of key definitions at the end of each chapter. You can treat this book as an intro to Plato and philosophy or as an interpretive summary. I will more than likely read it again.

This horribly written DIY Nietzsche book is actually semi decent! Luckily, the same speedreading technique you can use to take the edge off sentences like "He is certainly the most controversial and notorious philosopher to have lived, as well as being one of the world's most interesting and scintillating you will come across in the realms of philosophy at least" or "The fact that today you can attend Nietzsche conferences were [sic] he is discussed among serious and highly professional philosophers should be sufficient evidence that here we are talking about Nietzsche as a very serious philosopher indeed" is a good way of picking out all the cool weird facets of this unusual man's beautiful and disgusting ideas. There's a good concentration on Numinous Nietzsche, he of infinite recursion and "truth is what is psychologically bearable", with lesser looks into Religious Nietzsche and Joyful Nihilist Nietzsche and, weirdly, Empiricist Nietzsche. You could read The Gay Science instead, but you could also do worse.… (plus d'informations)
