A short, easy read. The characters were engaging, but the plot was predictable.

Would have been made better by a good editor. Some questionable historial details.

If you like westerns, I'd say start with Zane Grey instead

I believe this is the first book I've read by this author. At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like it but by the end, I was invested in the characters.

Hutchinson did a good job at having parallel storylines that weren't overtly obvious.

Cam has a job he likes but doing the right thing means going against the "blue line" and his fellow officers turn on him. This results in him asking for a transfer without consulting his wife--to be a bit fair to Cam, his wife's brother was in critical condition at the time, so it probably was not the best time to add something to her plate though I do still think he needed to.

Alex, Cam's wife, likes her job in the big city hospital, but chooses to follow her husband to the small town he's transferred to when she gets a job at the hospital there. She does find she likes the family practice more than she'd thought she would, but errors by the senior doctor there force her into reporting him which earns her the same treatment Cam received from his coworkers.

There were times I did wish that Cam and Alex would just sit down and talk and it did get frustrating, but it turned out that was part of the plot and when they finally did talk honestly, it meant that much more.

I am also glad to see Cam's brother, David, maturing and taking responsibility. I'm not sure I believe in the love-at-first-sight idea espoused in the book--and I certainly wouldn't recommend marrying someone after knowing them for so short a time, but . . . for a fictional happy-ever-after it was nice to see.

While I don't believe in reincarnation, I found myself rapidly reading the story of a seventy year old romance that started with the first world war as Bernadette found herself alone with a little girl when her husband went to fight leaving her to manage their small farm. When Jean did not return after years of waiting, she found herself deeply in love with an American who was lost and had knocked on her door. Annie his an author of children's books and attended a magic show while doing research on her next book, but she KNEW David even though they had never met. David is a surgeon and does magic as a hobby, yet as he looked at Annie, he felt attracted to her. I loved that Annie chose to rear her son on her own instead of marrying Michael, and as the story progressed she found out why she was having so much pain in her neck.… (plus d'informations)

WHAT A QUIRKY AND FUNNY NOVEL! I liked Grace from the start as she did't let her ex-lawyer and husband destroy her when she caught her ex-partner of her wedding planner business ruin her. Her mom is such a child that wants to spend every dollar that she has and divorced and remarried her dad. She's so selfish that she retained an attorney that would bankrupt her dad's business. Noah Burnside, attorney for Lucille, Grace's mom. When Grace dressed up like a slut as her employee assured her that it was the type of woman that Noah went for, she hoped that she could hire him to represent her firm and keep her younger brother's out of jail breaking Noah's foot in a fight.… (plus d'informations)
