A Few Good Points. A Few Troubling Ones. Standard Johnny Hunt. Full disclosure up front: I've been in a few crowds Johnny Hunt has preached to, and some relatives have been members of First Baptist Woodstock, where he preaches. So I know most of Johnny's story, what he believes, and his style. And this book is effectively sitting through a month or two of his sermons - each chapter tends to sound nearly identical to a given weekly sermon, in at least two instances complete with the Sinner's Prayer. And that is why I can't rate this book any higher, yet also don't feel comfortable rating it any lower. Conservative American Evangelical Christians will likely hit this book with 5*, the further away you are from that group, the lower your rating will likely be. Overall he does in fact make some solid points, he just does it in the lazy country preacher style I've known him to employ for the last 20 yrs - which works well in a region that 20 yrs ago still composed a fair amount of farmland, despite being in the middle of Metro Atlanta's northward surge. Recommended, just do your own research any time he makes a claim.… (plus d'informations)

I expected this book to be written more for believers who needed encouragement in the present days when it seems our culture drifts further and further from faith in God. It seemed to be more about evangelism or coming to faith in Jesus instead. I expected one with deeper spiritual truths than the one written. If seeking that type book, look elsewhere. If you are a young believer, the book may help you in your spiritual walk.

The devotion's are very well written in a way that even the youngest of your children will easily understand the message. At the top of the pages they list a Bible verse, then it goes on to explain what the verse means with real life examples, then there is a prayer at the end. Every page has wonderful illustrations of an animal on it. It is a hardcover book, so it is sure to last a lifetime of enjoyment for your child.I highly recommend this devotional. The devotions are going to easily grab your child's attention , at least it did for my grandchildren, from ages 13 to 3 years old. Each one of them enjoyed the devotions, and what they really liked is the fact that it is small enough that even the younger ones will have no trouble carrying it with them to church or even just at home. I received a complimentary copy through Booklook Bloggers and my review are my thoughts, and my grandchildren's thoughts.… (plus d'informations)

With sweetness and gentle moments, these short devotions are perfect for spending a few minutes every day with children and thoughts on God.

These pages offer one devotion every day for a year. It simply starts with 'Week 1, Monday' making it easy to start any time during the year and still maintain a daily schedule. Each devotion starts with a short title, a verse out of the Bible (from a translation just right for kids), and ends with a very short prayer. To make sure the message is clear and pointed out, a last thought of only a few words is left for kids to take with them. Of course, every page is accompanied by a sweet, cheerful illustration. Each of these depicts cute animals in a simple and gentle situation (like holding a flower or riding a bike). To make everything easy to find, there's a table of contents in the beginning as well as a couple of indexes at the back of the book: one with a list of the contributors and the correlating devotion, and one with a list of the used Bible verse and the page on which they can be found.

The devotions are written in a very simple manner with situations young listeners can easily identify with. Most don't feel preachy but offer food for thought in a way kids understand...and something even adults can consider. The Bible verses come from different translations, each which is pointed out with a short abbreviation, which is explained in the very front of the book in the small type. Obviously, the translations are a personal thing, some being better than others. Most (if not all) of the contributors come from the Baptist church, but the messages in the pages are still general enough to meet most denominations.

We found the devotions sweet, quick and just right for a pause to think about God and our lives. It offers a warming atmosphere with the kids, doesn't feel pressured but rather natural, and offers great openings for discussions and thoughts. In other words, it's a lovely book to help remind adult/parents to take the time each day to sit with their children and explore the Bible verse and thoughts of God.

I received a complimentary copy through Booklook Bloggers and my children and I enjoy the devotions enough to have us want to leave our honest thoughts.
