there was so much more we could have done with this book. Honestly missed opportunities from background on what happened to the victim to the antagonist. I gave the book a 3.5 but rounded up because overall was a decent but shallow story (fingers crossed that more books will flush out the characters more). I'm hoping as the books story continues it'll get better and better.

A cosy mystery in a future society on a planet far, far away.

The only reason I think the blurb says it is funny is because it wants to bring in Murderbot readers. It is not funny.
The writing is immature.
Strong women and a mystery keep it at a 3 star.

Huni, Julia. The Vacuum of Space. Space Janitor No. 1. IPH Media, 2019.
The Vacuum of Space is the first volume of the Space Janitor series. I read The Rings of Grissom, the first volume of Tales of a Former Space Janitor, last year. I somehow missed that there was a preceding series I should have read first. Oh well. In fact, Vacuum has as much of an in medias res start Rings did. Triana, the daughter of an industrial magnate, is already in disguise and working as a maintenance technician on the huge space habitat where her mother is at the top of its highly stratified social structure. As a maintenance technician, Triana is essentially a robot wrangler. When one of her bots bumps into a dead body, she is drawn into the murder investigation headed by security agent Ty O’Neill, who appreciates her computer skills, among other things. This next sentence is something of a spoiler. There is a character in the novel named Bobby Putin. One guess as to whether he is a good guy or not. What we have here, then is a lightweight humorous scifi mystery romcom. Will it change your life? No. Is it amusing at times. Yes. 3.5 stars.… (plus d'informations)
