Not the best fantasy out there, but fairly original and entertaining. Several of the characters are quite shallow, which really isn't a surprise as there is only one hero. This book continues the story told in the previous novel, and continues the adventures of three of the characters from that novel, Pelmen, Bronwynn and Rosha. However, Bronwynn and Roshar are really only given small roles, everything centers around Pelmen and his still mysterious quest. I enjoyed it, but it really isn't great.

I stumbled across this recently in a used book store. I'd never heard of the book or the author before, but this was fairly good. There are some different ways of presenting standard fantasy elements here, and the writing is good. Its not the best fantasy written durng the late 70's, but its not bad either. Its a bit lighter on fighting and 'flash bang' wizardry than is typical for books from that time, which makes it a bit distincitve.
