158 pg Canadian authored novel of Jonathan, reminiscing from his babyhood in the rural world of Newfoundland to the latter pages of his life; a life shaped by a dozen family generations in a community, most markedly influenced by his loving, seafaring Captain, grandfather.

likes? descriptive passages of Brigus, Nfld's terrain and surrounds, interesting unusual historical facts tying Nfld and Canada into well known world history.

dislikes? thinly disguised philosophizing via dialogue and thoughts of the main characters. several times, the topics discussed and dialogued left me feeling an uncomfortable 'no'. struggled to complete this one...… (plus d'informations)

A great read on a rainy afternoon, and evening, and night. In fact, once picked up, this book is very hard to put down. Well written, the author makes you feel that you are there with him. This describes the Annapolis Valley as i know it.
