The story of Ernest Shackleton's expedition to the Antarctic on the Endurance is the stuff of legend. Despite tremendous hardships—the Endurance getting stuck in the pack ice, the ship sinking, living on the ice floes, setting out in the lifeboats, storms, and a 36-hour marathon hike over the mountains—all the men survive the ordeal. This picture book is a great adventure story and a slice of history. Gentle illustrations offset some of the vivid language. Includes maps.

This is one of those didactic kid's books. In this case it's about where wool comes from and how it's produced. Not sure why I bought it. Basically it's an ok story and ok pictures.....McEwan is the illustrator. But it's certainly dated somewhat. I don't think that this is really a "keeper" so I'll be donating to charity. Two stars from me.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. It was surprising to see what type of animals were being hatched out of the eggs, and I liked seeing what new activity they would be up to on each page. And my daughter likes to "eat" the chocolate egg on the last page.
