Lowcountry Spirit is a prequel novella to The Storycatcher. I found to be an engrossing tale and I especially liked that it didn't feel too short, which is sometimes a problem when it comes to novellas. The writing is great and I was drawn into the story about Emmaline, Celestia, and Liza, the three slave girls that each tell their story in the novella.

Now I'm eager to start The Storycatcher!

It wasn't as creepy and gothic as it was conyed, but I still thought it was enjoyable.

A wonderful blend of Gothic and ghost, set on Black Mountain just outside Asheville-- a place I've loved to go. (A friend used to have a great restaurant up on Black Mountain.) Told from the point of view of five women, it's the story of a good woman loving a bad man, with ghosts thrown in. I liked the varied perspectives and how they moved the story along.
