Martha Himmelfarb is the William H. Danforth Professor of Religion at Princeton University. Her work has focused on ancient Judaism and apocalyptic literature in particular. The Apocalypse: A Brief History par Martha Himmelfarb
This is an excellent overview of the development of apocalyptic thought from its beginnings to today. Himmelfarb provides clear, concise descriptions of selected apocalyptic writings. It is a good introduction for those new to this area of history and literature. It informs without overwhelming with detail.
