ok so August - when he was younger - was cursed into being a demon. He is self-conscious of his full demon form so he often presents himself less demon-y. After his curse, he leaves home and, for a while, becomes a sex worker. His clients want to have sex with demons so he is able to use his curse for financial security. What I love about the sex worker representation of this is that it is a soft nudge to say sex work is work and people have agency over their bodies. Probably due to patriarchy and Christian hegemony, sex work is not considered labor in the same way "manual" labor is. When someone decides to take control of the means of production on their own terms, people freak the fuck out Anyway - August's sex work was a non-issue for Ariadne. In fact, after their (historical) split, she creates a Monster Bash where monsters and humans and sex workers alike can come together without fear of judgement and be who they are and enjoy what they want (consensually, of course).

Original thoughts:
This books was filthy from the start and I loved it. Monster Sex Extravaganza, serpent men with two peens, indulgent aftercare that turns into more boning, oh and a quest to guard a hellmouth and save a colleague? What are you waiting for??
