But. The book is about a hundred pages too long, which is about 1/4, which is a lot to slog through. Herendeen spends too much time on the years after the novel's weddings & it's all the same, over & over & over. Pride and Prejudice provides the main interest here; when Herendeen starts making up material the story thins to nearly nothing.
Nevertheless, 300 pages are smart, well-written, and gave me a new way to think about a book I've been teaching & writing about for almost thirty years. I was impressed and so very entertained.… (plus d'informations)
