Courte biographie
I live in California's Mojave Desert with my best friend and husband, nine children, two grandchildren, and a dog. When I'm not living in the real world, doing exciting things like scrubbing floors, toilets, and explaining photosynthesis-- again, I escape into Word and write about my imaginary friends, as they live lives that are both very similar and completely different from mine.

This book has been on my TBR list for quite a while, and I was so thrilled to finally fit it in this past month! I loved the other books in this series; Chautona has a way of writing mysteries that is both fun and engaging. And I love the main characters in this series—they could quite easily be some of my all-time favorites (right now, anyway!). I loved a lot of this book.

Unfortunately, it didn’t end up being a favorite of the series for me, though, and I’ve spent the last few days trying to puzzle out why. I’m still not entirely sure, but I think part of the reason why I struggled with this book specifically was that the answers to the mystery weren’t spelled out quite as clearly as in some of the other books in the series. I’m not the kind of person who likes to guess the answer to the mystery—I don’t have that kind of a brain, and would much rather take the journey with the characters. In this book, I ended up being somewhat confused by what was actually going on—whether it was me, the writing style, or the fact that things had to be a bit vague because of what the main character discovered, I don’t know. All I know is that I ended up being confused, and didn’t feel like things were completely wrapped up for me by the end of the book—I still have questions about how several character’s problems were rectified.

Still, I enjoyed this book. I loved being able to get to know Amy a little here, and I also loved the Russell/Madeline thing that’s going on. The history side was fun, especially the photo-developing aspect. I find that process intriguing, although I had to wonder how healthy it was to be around all those chemicals! Overall, it was a good story; I just wish I’d been able to understand what was going on a bit better. A fun mystery, but not my favorite of the series.

I had such fun with this book! Mom told me a while back that I would enjoy it, and while I believed her, it took a bit to get around to picking it up. I’m glad I waited—this came at the perfect time for me. Lighthearted, a quick, easy, feel-good read—everything one could want in between some heavier/slower-paced reads.

I loved Vi in here. Her penchant for fun, her wise counsel, and even more the way she intentionally worked things to show her children how much she loved her husband…hers was a character I thoroughly enjoyed and got more than a few chuckles out of!

Ainsley and Wade…what can I say? They’re the perfect duo of intense and sweet, dedicated and slightly awkward. Then if you add Granny into the mix (she was a gem!), it upped the ante to an entirely new level.

This was mostly just fluffy romance, but it did have some depth to it, as well, which I appreciated. Some of the relationship wisdom that was shared was on-point and encouraging, and I also enjoyed the faith element. If you’re looking for an easy, light, humorous read, I’d highly recommend this book. It’s a gem!

Wonderful story! I couldn't put it down and can't wait to continue reading each week's new episode and find out about Willow's life!
