Designed to amuse and intrigue, I Wonder Why Whales Sing and Other Questions About Sea Life answers all sorts of questions that children ask about life in the seas and oceans, from the brightly colored fish of the coral reefs to the oddly shaped creatures of the ocean trenches. I like how some of the pages have clear pieces. I used to read books like this when I was in grammar school. I would use this with any age.

This book is filled with many miscellaneous facts about the ocean, presented in a question-and-answer format. I can picture this being a good independent reader book for a child interested in ocean-life and learning. I question it's function as a reference book or read-aloud, and the information in not quite organized enough or concise enough for either purpose. Overall an enjoyable read.

*Nonfiction* I found this book to be a bit boring. It provides a lot of great information about dolphins and whales but it is not presented in an interesting way. I did like the illustrations though and the section that provided suggestions for projects. I also liked the comparisons made to humans. The main point of this book is to educate children about and interest them in dolphins and whales.
