Absolutely loved the blend of mythology with romance. Having never read the story of Psyche and Cupid, this was a very welcome surprise and very refreshing.

This is a cute fluff read. Sticklers may be annoyed by the modern vernacular and tools mixed in w/ Ancient Greek clothing and customs. (ie. There were no forks in Ancient Greece.)

DNF. Hard to stomach modern language and modern sensibilities in ancient Greek mythology. Definitely not a book for me.

I must admit that even though I am a fan of Greek mythology, I've never heard the story of Eros and Psyche before. Hell, I didn't even know Psyche! So when I came across this book and saw that it's a Greek myth retelling, I immediately knew I had to read it.

Aaaaannndd.... I didn't like it. I LOVED IT! Destined is sweet and passionate and romantic. I don't really get to read a lot of romance in mythology so I really embraced this one. It was beautiful. The hate-love relationship of Eros and Psyche is kinda cute. Though I don't approve of keeping someone against their will, (that sounds like illegal detention) I can't bring myself to dislike Eros. He's conceited and a bit full of himself so it was interesting to see how he changed for love. I also admire Psyche for her bravery to accept her destiny even though she had no idea what's in store for her. I especially liked whenever Eros visits Psyche at night. The mystery of Psyche not seeing her captor made everything more interesting.

Destined was a really wonderful retelling. Creatively written and well thought of, it's definitely one of my favorite mythology-themed books now. Jessie Harrell did an amazing job of bringing Eros and Psyche's love story to another level of awesome.
