Courte biographie
Harry Harmer‘s particular interest is the late 19th and early 20th century European history. He has studied the history of the Weimar Republic and the rise of Hitler and his PhD involved research into the Communist International and the European Communist parties of which the German was the most significant. He is the author of a number of biographies including that of Friedrich Ebert, the first President of the Weimar Republic.

He has also written the Longman Companion to the Labour Party and the Longman Companion to Slavery, Emancipation and Civil Rights. He is the co-author of The Black Handbook: The People, History and Politics of Africa and the African Diaspora which Bloomsbury is re-releasing in its Academic Facsimile Collections in 2016.

Harry’s biography of Tom Paine, perhaps the most famous unknown figure of the American Revolution and for six years a resident of the town of Lewes in Sussex where his biographer resided until recently was published by Haus. [Agent]
