Georgia Guback

A group of young carolers go from house to house singing a line or two of favorite Christmas carols. As they progress though the neighborhood, their numbers swell as members of each household join them until the original group of five has now become a choir of thirty-three children and adults singing “Joy to the World”, and the whole neighborhood is wishing the reader a “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

The first lines of “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “The First Noël,” “Away in a Manger,” “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing,” "We Three Kings," "Silent Night," "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," "What Child Is This?" "Joy to the World!" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" serve as the text for Guback’s colorful cut-paper collage illustrations. The lyrics are presented with musical notation and chords, making this a story that can not only be read aloud, but could also be an opportunity for a family sing along.… (plus d'informations)
