An interesting book about special case investing (spin-offs, etc.) I might try some of the ideas in this book and refer back to it later.

The Little Book That Still Beats the Market par Joel Greenblatt

Greenblatt is a legendary investor, but I do have a problem with his "magic formula." For starter, I'm not big into value investing (I prefer holding QQQ/SPY/TLT and stock options). His magic formula essentially just filters out companies with low P/E ratios and EV/EBITDA ratios with high ROICs. You could use his formula as a screener, but also ensure that the company trades high volumes and is liquid. I wouldn't blindly purchase the stocks that the formula spits out.

I had this book on hold and the librarian couldn't find it. So many books had come in! But I had a magic formula for finding it. "Look for the little book," I said. Not exactly magic but it worked like a charm. Same for the advice in this book. It's simple, logical and gives a clear path to execute. It's also funny, which makes this a classic in personal finance. And of course it's short, which at least sweeps you into the qualifiers (like, you won't always make money).
