Phyllis Granoff

I read this collection to satisfy my curiosity about Jainism, to nick some stories and appreciate new metaphors. To this purpose, the book was perfect. Although medieval in origin, the stories had some flair. I couldn't help be reminded of the thousand nights and one nights, although the chronology suggests that they may have been a source for that classic work.

Great set of Jain stories. Has some good descriptions and commentary on cultural information, too. A little heavy for a "fun read", but generally worth it.
