The Ramp Festival at Sheriff Tony Abernathy’s family’s folk museum occurs during the peak of spring fever in tiny Park County, Tennessee, complete with music, food, crafts and homemade weapons launching vegetables at rubber duckies floating in a stock tank. But chaos erupts when a flying vegetable hits unpopular game warden Harrison Ragsdale, and he dies at the festival. Sworn to protect and serve everyone in his county, Tony investigates.

The Fourth of July week is often chaotic for Sheriff Tony Abernathy and his wife Theo. Between bad weather, quilt shows, a body dropped from the sky and bones found hidden in a root cellar, both are running in circles. Tony's friend, Carl Lee Cashdollar, is the son of the body from the sky and Tony is determined to find out who killed the man, and why. Theo's quilt shop is having a show with a world-famous quilter displaying her award winning quilts. When one is stolen, Tony has even more to try to pack into his busy week, and his wife's quilt is near the top of his list.

The Quilted Mysteries are well written, have multiple stories running through them and the stories both mix and separate to create a multi-layered story. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

A quick and fun little mystery with lots of likeable characters and quite a few really nasty ones.

I have really been enjoying this series and this one is no exception. Tony Abernathy has a lot to do as a Sheriff of a small town as the Fourth of July approaches. There is a parade to protect, quilts to hang (wife Theo insists), and some very strange accidents, murders and attacks going on in east Tennessee.

The murder of a local, Candy, who is known for being a bit flaky sends Tony, his deputies and even his wife, Theo, out to try and find the killer. Candy's son, Alvin, is a youngster who has been declared emancipated because his mother can't take care of him. His plight is one of the reasons that Tony wants to find the killer, that and he really wants to keep his county safe.

Barbara Graham writes too slowly for me, but I'll be waiting for the next book.
