Penny, the protagonist, knows how to enjoy snow. But she is also very careful. She knows not to walk under icicles and, more importantly, “to watch out for snow beasts”. There is one snow beast however, that wants to play. Snow Beast leaves his mountain to find a friend but despite his best attempts at greeting others, being helpful and joining the fun, everyone runs away. Penny learns that although Snow Beast is loud, “shockingly large” and clumsy, he can also be as sad as anyone else when no one accepts his friendship. “Penny imagined how she would feel if no one wanted to play with her”, then finds a new friend in Snow Beast.
Gosier’s illustrations are entertaining; the townspeople, Penny’s dog and the snow beasts are all greatly and humorously expressive.… (plus d'informations)
