Hugh Godefroy

From inside the Spitfire to inside the politics of the RAF, Godefroy tells an interesting story, Frequently, he gives us the gossip and his views of the famous and not so famous he ran a cross as he fought in the skies over Europe. His inside view of life on an RAF base with its British social class rules and how pilots from Canada and other countries including the USA tried to fit in is fascinating.
His descriptions of actual air combat is as confusing as I am sure it was to fight. There is a great deal of humour in his story much of which surrounds drinking and women but also accidents experienced by him and his fellow airmen.
A very readable memoir that I had difficulty putting down.… (plus d'informations)
