An account of the rediscovery of the Bermuda petrel (cahow) and the extraordinary efforts of David Wingate (and others) to ensure that the bird would have a continued home on the small islets off Bermuda where it has nested for centuries.

Gehrman does an excellent job of documenting the heroic (and that is decidedly not too strong a word) efforts to restore existing habitat and create a more extensive place for the birds to nest. Recommended.
