This is a great reference book for students to use when studying archeypes. However, it is meant for advanced readers but the ebook function allows students to download as an MP3 or read the text in different languages. A quality reference source that will not become out of date.

Archetypes and motifs in folklore and literature … par Jane Garry

This book is good for people unfamiliar with Thompson’s Motive-Index. Garry and El-Shamy include in-depth essays on select motifs. For example, the trickster motif essay discusses flaws in Thompson’s and Aarne’s work as well as providing a geographic breakdown of tricksters.
