This is the second book in the Cleo Mack series. I won a copy in a Goodreads Giveaway. This was my first time reading G. P. Gardner.

I have become enchanted by Fairhope, Alabama. I want to go live in Harbor Village. It took me a bit to get into this book. I’m not a car enthusiast. The story has quite a bit for a car enthusiast to enjoy. For someone like me, it has quite a bit that may turn you into wondering when the next car show is going to held near by. The story gradually gripped me, then before I realized it, it refused to let me go. I honestly did not know who did it until the reveal. I had quite a few suspects, including the killer. My list, though, was written all over and suspects were scratched out only to be added back. I really had a better time with this book than I first thought I would. I was genuinely sorry to get to the end! I became friends with many characters. I’m so curious about them. I was left hanging with a question I had regarding Patti. I like the slow burning romance with Cleo and Riley, though at times I wished she would reunite with Travis. Maybe that is for Stephanie rather than Cleo or Travis. There are many other characters that I could speak about. I’m intrigued by many. Yes this series has me hooked. When is the next book coming out?… (plus d'informations)

Cleo Mack, head administrator of the Harbor Village retirement community, has a lot on her plate the end of March when Fairhope, Alabama is hosting its Arts & Crafts Festival. Just before opening day, Cleo needs to check out the Art that is for sale to get something for the main lobby. She has also been invited to an anniversary dinner for her friends and her "boyfriend" has the new house being redecorated just for her.

When se returns from the anniversary dinner, she's told that Twinkle Thaw, sister of one of residents has been taken ill after her sister's birthday party. Later, Cleo finds out that Twinkle died of poisoning. Need to protect Harbor Village, Cleo sets out to find the murderer.

It's great when the protagonist is a few years older than normal and the other regulars are seniors. The story had multiple layers as well as a few good laughs.

Fairhope, Alabama is hosting an antique car show and Harbor Village is doing it's part by having a lecture series about antique cars. Things get a bit difficult when one of the shows sponsors is found murdered and Cleo's ex and current boss could be a viable suspect. Can Cleo figure out the murderer before the murderer kills someone else?

The older characters add some depth to the stories that isn't always available in other cozies. But I would like to see more of creative ideas that could be showcased at a senior community.
Totally enjoyable.

I didn't really enjoy this cozy. I'm not sure why but I just didn't click with it. The characters seemed off with their interactions. Cleo and Riley are talking about moving in together but can't find time to talk to each other. When they do, they seem to pussyfoot around rather than actually talking about things. The mystery drug on without a clear resolution in my opinion. Not sure I'll be reading any more of this author.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and voluntarily chose to review it.
