I loved this book way more than I thought I would. I'm not usually into books by girls - for girls, but Hadley's particular brand of feminism comes with film studies and lipstick on the side. Laugh out loud funny in places (the Daily Mail headlines chapter) and had me questioning Ferris Bueller in a different way than I ever had before. You should eally read this.

Very well written and engaging. Freeman mixes her own story with testimony of other anorexic women (as she says few young men are affected). As a man, I was fascinated and educated. It would make helpful reading for all parents. As a father, I am relieved that my daughter was not so obviously affected by worries about food (I credit my wife with a sensible approach to our children’s eating). I was glad that Freeman had a “happy” (able to eat and have a family) ending to this tale.

This book surprised me. I expected it to be just a nostalgia trip but it turned out to be a really gritty exploration of 80's social politics along with some personal commentary. Really enjoyed this book.
