Courte biographie
Whether romantic, comedic, erotic, or full of suspense, Jaylen Florian's books often feature characters struggling for self-awareness and fulfillment.

Many of the settings relate to the fine arts and sports -- Florian is an artist and athlete -- but the characters' challenges and journeys are universal.

I really could not get into the book. The writing really threw me out of it so many times. It was written in the present tense, and the characters spoke as if they were sophisticated 70 year old men from the 1930’s. OK, that might be an exaggeration, but they definitely spoke very stiffly, and the interactions did not feel natural. Elan and Sam did not like each other right off the bat and were rude for absolutely no reason. For Elan, it was our first time meeting him, so it could’ve been personality, but we had met Sam for a few chapters already, and it seemed out of character for him. Then all of a sudden they were cordial (which was fine—they acted like adults finally), but somehow they then advanced to having feelings. This was not believable to me. I didn’t quite understand their chemistry or what it was they liked about the other.

There was a mystery in here, and that was interesting and intriguing. I liked the mystery story, but did not like or feel connection with the characters.

I liked the premise of the story. I thought that Sam and Elan were both great characters and Antonella was definitely interesting.

The writing was very narration-like. It read more like a movie script and less like a book. It made it a little difficult for me to get into an otherwise good story.
