What's a Homeowner to Do? offered a sufficient overview of home maintenance and repair for the newbie homeowner.
Pros
* Content. I've been a homeowner for almost six years and this book included everything I've learned by necessity in that time and then some.
* Layout. The book's table of contents was so-so but the actual content and Index were well-organized and easy to read straight through as well as go back and spot pick certain topics. Also, sections had color-coded markers.
Cons
* The repeated mantra of "call a professional." Geez. You'd think a TV show host on the DIY Network would be more encouraging toward DIY-ers.
* This book did not offer much in the way of actual how-to instructions. It was mostly overview and brief instructions.
Overall, I'd recommend this book to brand new homeowners looking for a guide to what they should be on the lookout for and best practices for preventative maintenance. Anyone who wants to actually tackle fixes will need to look elsewhere.… (plus d'informations)
