This book was really intresting, I've never read anything like it, it is historical and not borning at the sametime, some of the ladies in this book if not all of them are really intresting, they lead a life closer to fiction then reality, I enjoed Lady Emma Hamilton's biography, and George Sand, Lola Montez (she is so pretty) and Eva Braun and Caroline Otero (a dancer who was rated and admired above all her peers).

A handy collection of eight biographies in one book for those interested in history but have trouble digesting large biographical tomes.

A poorly written and shallow account of several mistresses, chosen seemingly at random, and without a true unifying theme. The stories gloss over important facts in each woman's life, focusing primarily on the time spent with the "famous lover" of each. This is unfortunate, since the truly interesting stories generally occurred before and after the main tryst. Not recommended - many other books cover the same ground better, in more detail.
