When criminal defense attorney Maeve McMahan loses a big case in Atlanta she heads back home to the mountains of North Carolina to visit her grandmother, whom she hasn't seen in years. Maeve decides to take a hike on the Roan Mountain Gardens trail to clear her head and there she sees Delphine...the Witch of Roan Mountain, who has been dead for years. Maeve can't believe her eyes, she doesn't believe in ghosts, and Delphine has been a legend in these parts for as long as she can remember. A frightened Maeve doesn't know what to do when Delphine asks for her help.

Back at the house granny fell and has to go to the hospital. Deputy Campbell Hyatt goes out to the trail to look for Maeve and to tell her what happened to granny. Maeve was the big love of Campbell's life but she left town to go to the bright lights of Atlanta and became a hotshot lawyer. When Campbell finds Maeve she tells Campbell that she saw Delphine. But he doesn't believe her and he thinks it's stress.

After visiting granny in the hospital Maeve goes to the library to get some information on Delphine. Most townsfolk are scared when Maeve even brings Delphine's name up. But since Maeve's curiosity is piqued she wants to get to the bottom of this and find some answers. (It seems, from what Delphine is trying to tell Maeve, is that Delphine was wrongly accused of murder and was called a witch and hanged for it. Delphine was innocent and she wants her name cleared so she can finally be at peace.) At first, Campbell doesn't want to help, but he soon becomes interested in finding out what the truth is. Maeve and Campbell also start to rekindle their romance, but what will happen when Maeve leaves again for Atlanta?

This was a captivating and interesting short story/novella (96 pages). There were a few brief flashbacks at times in the book around the Civil War days to tell Delphine's story. I enjoyed the lovely and mysterious setting in the mountains. There were some sexy love scenes between Maeve and Campbell.

Sweet, sappy romance-classic stuff. Maddie is still pining for her deceased husband and David is the commanding officer who feels responsible for his death. The two end up thrown together to coach her nephews football team. Its sweet and sappy and a classic trope but its not poorly written. Maddie and David are enjoyable characters. The boys on the football team are typical elementary school kids with elementary kid shenanigans. Its a predictable story though-no surprises or major plot twists. Its about Coach Maddie learning to open herself up to love again and about David learning to forgive himself. If you want a quick romantic read, this is a solid pick. It won't blow you away, but you will feel the love and the lack of angst was a nice change of pace for me.… (plus d'informations)

A Ghostly Wager by Blaire Edens is a short but very interesting clean book. A gal runs away from her father who wants her to marry a creepy undertaker twice her age. She gets to a town and sees an ad for psychic help. She has seen ghosts so the next day she applies. It is a very nice story of how she goes on her first mission with the boss to stop the haunting in one of the buildings. A budding relationship, and the life of the ghost. Nice story and well done. I don't normally like romances but this is done so sweetly, who couldn't like this?… (plus d'informations)
