I really enjoyed this. It wasn't perfect but it was easily a solid four stars. Georgia was a gem of a character. She was strong and brave and fierce and Parker was intelligent and sensitive and caring and it was really interesting to see the dynamic between the two and the developing relationship. I can't say I've read many books with such a strong role reversal (and funny enough the other is also published by Montlake - [b:Storm Warning|26088900|Storm Warning (Security Specialists International, #4)|Monette Michaels|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1441200900l/26088900._SX50_.jpg|46029227]) but it worked well. The mystery was interesting and I love when these sorts of conspiracy's play out over multiple books. I can't wait to read the next one.… (plus d'informations)

Trained sniper, Cooper Reed, has been on the run from her former partner, Cole, who has been trying to kill her for years. The information she has gathered leads her to believe that Cole has been mentally programmed by an organization that she has only just begun to track down. Cooper believes the key is material located in a safety deposit box that she can't access without her friend, William Bennett. Recent information has led Cooper to Will, who is not dead as had been reported but is being held captive. Her job will be to rescue him, but she doesn't know if that will be enough to insure his willingness to help her.

Fearless is a well written, fast paced romantic suspense with lots of twists and turns to keep the story moving right up to the very end. Cooper and Will are well developed as well as Pierce, who is an interesting character. Unfortunately, several other characters are left to the imagination of the reader especially due to the amount of exposition that is used to describe the far fetched mystery and its possible solution. Also, there is some enjoyable, physical interaction between the leads, but it's mostly fade to black, which is regrettable because their connection is extremely combustible and could have made for some memorable love scenes. Even with its issues, Fearless is a very good romantic suspense that keeps the reader engrossed throughout.

Defenseless takes the bodyguard trope and twists it a bit with a female bodyguard and a male client. I enjoyed the switch because Georgia isn't some perfect, badass soldier. She is stumbling through this new, post military job, unsure of herself and her purpose in life. It made her much more relatable than I expected because you really get to see her vulnerability. Parker was a great hero as well (again, I was a little nervous that he would be a flat character). He is a genius who does top secret government work...and makes video games! He is also playful, snarky, and flirty. He isn't this dominating alpha male, throwing his weight around and being domineering. Parker is unique and no less manly; he is just different. I appreciated that he didn't want a bodyguard period, but did accept that Georgia was better at tactical strategizing and he wasn't afraid to follow her lead in that area. They balance each other very well.

The action is non stop and Parker and Georgia are, quite literally, on the run from early on in the book! While the plot might seem a bit of a stretch, I didn't think it was implausible! Parker's program would be a huge win for the government and its use could certainly be abused. It doesn't seem impossible to imagine that the government might not use the program with integrity, so the plot that follows is believable. Overall, Defenseless is the type of romantic suspense story I enjoy because its fast, action packed, and remarkably interesting!

  • POV: 3rd

  • Tears: no

  • Trope: bodyguard

  • Triggers: none

  • Series/Standalone: stand alone

  • Cliffhanger: No but there is a set up for the next book

  • HEA: HFN

Run to Ground by Katie Ruggle, Resurrection by Katie Reus, Fast Kill by Kaylea Cross...then you will probably like Defenseless!

Relentless is book 2 in the series and, after the first chapter, it really is a stand alone. I had to think back to what happened in book 1 because it is referenced. However, its not critical to the story of Relentless so it isn't really an issue.

Ethan is the leader of the security team and is carrying a huge burden. He is determined to save a fellow soldier from a drug cartel. First, he has to infiltrate the cartel! Natalia is the niece of the cartel leader. She has been forced into a life she does not want. She has to do awful things for her uncle in order to protect her younger sister. Sparks fly when these two meet and instantly they recognize that the other isn't who they say they are. They form an uneasy alliance-Ethan needs an in and Natalia and her sister need out!

I liked both Ethan and Natalia. They are hardened due to the things they have experienced and it fit in well with the plot. I thought the action was good and really keeps the story moving! Overall, if you like romantic suspense, Relentless is a great pick! Good characters, solid action, strong heroine!

  • POV: 3rd

  • Tears: no

  • Trope: secret identity

  • Triggers: Natalia is forced to do some things for her uncle that might upset readers (non consensual sex is alluded to but not explicit)

  • Series/Standalone: series

  • Cliffhanger: no

  • HEA: yes

...then you will probably like Relentless!
