- James Downey is an Irish journalist. He began his career with the the Sligo Champion newspaper and then transferred to the Carlow Nationalist before moving to London. He then returned to work at the Irish Times in 1959, becoming Deputy Editor. He currently writes a weekly opinion piece for the Irish Independent newspaper.

An excellently well-researched, very readable and humourous account of the life of the late Brian Lenihan Snr. The author knew him well and did a service to history and politics students by writing this book.
