The light blue book cover of the Truly Yours edition drew me to this historical ChristFic romance. It was originally a Heartsong Presents release, and I found a few romances from that line in the past that I really liked.

The style of this one turned out not to be for me, though. I found the emotional development to be awkward and sometimes rushed, some of the story's elements are repetitive, and the characters and certain key aspects of the story weren't too convincing while others could have used at least a little more originality.

Even so, the fairly short length and the overall ease of the read were enough for me to stick around and see exactly how the couple would make it to their Happily Ever After. Also, while the prominent faith message in the story didn't hold anything new or deep for me personally, I did find it interesting to see how one aspect of it brought about one of the heroine's important decisions.

A Heart’s Rescue by Lena Nelson Dooley is a work of Christain Historical fiction. Set on the high seas, the story explores the story of Angelina de la Fuente Delgado, the daughter of a wealthy merchant, who is on her way home to Spain. Set in 1805, the author did an excellent job with the pacing of this story as well as the character development.

Sent by Angelina’s father, Brian O’Doule, works to protect her while attempting to conceal his love that has been growing for her. After they are kidnapped, Brian works to protect Angelina and her aunt while trying to find a way for them to escape. I had to keep reading to see if they could escape and if Angelina would get to see her father again.

So if you enjoy reading stories that include pirates, adventures on the high sea, and faith in God, I recommend you read this book for yourself. I definitely enjoyed it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
